The West

Hiking 7 cascades, Mauritius

Adventure seekers,
head to the west!

Covered by forestry mountains, the Black River district is the ultimate place to practice ecotourism across mountains and down waterfalls. A horse-back ride will let you experience the best of its vegetation and endemic fauna, crossing from sugarcane fields into the lush of our ever-green island. Its vivid coast offers surf, stand up paddle and kitesurf possibilities in popular spots like Tamarin and Le Morne.

Adventure yourself into this lively zone and let us organize your conscious experiences with a local guide.

Come out of your comfort zone

You will like it

Discovering our endemic flora and fauna, conquering the highest peak of Mauritius and abseiling down waterfalls are eco-friendly possibilities to experience the wildest side of Mauritius in the West.

Just in case you thought 10 days on the beach were a little too much.

Ile aux Benitiers, west coast of Mauritius

Visit Ile aux Bénitiers

the unconventional way

If you have never walked on water to an isolated island, then better get your water shoes ready to start today! Mauritius being surrounded by a steady, shallow lagoon, opens the possibility to walk across its low tide to a few islets close to the shore. Give it a try to discover the beautiful Îlot Forneau off the coast of Le Morne and Île aux Bénitiers from the coast of La Gaulette.

While tourist traps invite you to the last one on a boat, our friends take you for a meditative lagoon walk by crossing the sea on your own two feet. After the energizing experience you’ll enjoy a loving home-made picnic in their own secret spot. Otherwise, take on a kayaking excursion to those areas inaccessible by boat for a snorkeling session and close-up views of the popular Crystal Rock.

Swimming with dolphins

All year-round we are privileged with the visit of dolphins in our western lagoon, where they find a safe home to rest, socialize with their calves and reproduce; thus, it has become a popular attraction to “swim with dolphins”, where a normal summer morning may receive up to 30 motor boats with curious tourists in the Tamarin Bay… More like a “swim with boats” kind of excursion.

We believe that dolphins deserve more respect and peace in their natural home, exercising their natural routines, for we choose to promote different conscious experiences that let our cetacean friends breathe a little bit more.

If, still, you are interested on this kind of excursion, please drop us a line and we’ll try to connect you with a more responsible guide.
