Kenya
Embark on an eleven-day odyssey crafted for the daring explorer, a tale of two lands that contrast and complement in the most breathtaking ways. This is a journey that moves from the vast, thundering plains of Kenya to the tranquil, turquoise lagoons of Mauritius. It is an invitation to witness the raw power of the animal kingdom, to connect with the deep-rooted cultures of two nations, and to find serene moments of stillness on a secluded shore in Mauritius.
Every step of this adventure is guided by our commitment to conscious travel. By partnering exclusively with Kenyan and Mauritian-led enterprises, your journey becomes part of a greater story—one of empowerment for local families and steadfast support for conservation.
Your story ignites in Kenya, a land where the horizon is endless and the air hums with the energy of legendary wildlife. This is more than a trip; it is an immersion into the very soul of a Kenya safari. Your adventure begins in the world-renowned Maasai Mara, a sweeping wilderness of golden plains where you will spend your days on thrilling game drives. Led by an expert guide, you will track the iconic “Big Five”—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—witnessing the raw, unfiltered drama of the savanna unfold.
From the thundering plains, the narrative shifts to the Great Rift Valley for an exhilarating change of pace at Lake Naivasha. Here, you will trade the safari vehicle for two wheels in the adjacent Hell’s Gate National Park. Imagine the surreal and breathtaking experience of pedalling alongside herds of grazing zebras, giraffes, and buffalo, connecting with the wildlife on a truly personal and unobstructed level.
Your Kenyan chapter then builds to a magnificent crescendo in Amboseli National Park. Here, against the awe-inspiring backdrop of a snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, you will encounter the park’s world-renowned herds of free-ranging elephants, their immense forms silhouetted against the dusty plains and lush marshlands in an iconic and unforgettable African spectacle.
As the wild energy of the savanna fades, your story transitions to the island jewel of the Indian Ocean, a place of vibrant culture and serene natural beauty. This is your invitation to connect with the authentic soul of Mauritius, far beyond the postcard beaches. Your journey into the island’s heart is a feast for the senses. You will connect with the island’s living culture by sharing a meal in the home of a local.
First, you’ll handpick ingredients at a bustling fresh market, then prepare a delicious curry filled with the aromas, conversation, and music that can only be found in the kitchen of a Mauritian Creole. You will taste the island’s eclectic history on a walking street-food tour in the capital, Port Louis, sampling steamed dumplings, spiced roti, and deep-fried chilli-cakes from the hands of local artisans.
The adventure then turns to the island’s stunning natural landscapes. You will unveil Mauritius’s wild side on a guided hike through the magnificent Black River Gorges National Park, exploring its lush, green heart.
You’ll find tranquillity during a stroll through the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, mesmerised by its stunning collection of giant water lilies and fragrant spice trees. Finally, you will take to the water for a sea-kayaking adventure, paddling across a turquoise lagoon to the isolated Amber Island to navigate through canopies of mangroves and snorkel in a natural aquarium.

1. What is “conscious travel”?
Conscious travel is an approach that takes your trip’s impact seriously. It means that 100% of your travel money is invested in local families through lodges, activities, and guides that are all Mauritian and Kenyan-led and run. It also involves learning about local culture, traditions, and conservation efforts, ensuring your visit is beneficial to the destination.
2. Is the flight between Kenya and Mauritius included in the price? The flight from Kenya to Mauritius Island is not included in the trip package. This allows our guests the flexibility to arrange their travel in a way that best suits their schedule and preferences. We handle all private airport transfers in both countries.
3. What is the best time of year to take this trip? This trip is wonderful for much of the year, but the ideal time is during the dry season. Travelling between June and October offers a great overlap, with dry weather in Mauritius perfect for beach and hiking activities, and spectacular wildlife viewing for the safari portion in Kenya, coinciding with the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara.
4. Can the accommodations be upgraded? Absolutely. While the selected accommodations offer an authentic and comfortable experience, we understand the desire for elevated luxury. We can tailor the itinerary to include stays at premier lodges in Kenya and exclusive beachfront sanctuaries in Mauritius to suit your travel style.
5. How strenuous are the physical activities? The activities are designed to be enjoyable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. The hike in Black River Gorges is approximately 3 hours. The cycling safari in Hell’s Gate and the sea-kayaking to Amber Island are taken at a leisurely pace, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
6. What makes the culinary experiences unique? The culinary experiences are designed to be deeply personal and immersive. In Mauritius, you will visit a weekly fresh market to handpick ingredients before preparing a delicious curry in the home of Rosemonde. The walking food tour in Port Louis allows you to learn about the island’s blended culture by sampling typical street foods like dumplings, roti, and deep-fried chilli-cakes from the local vendors who perfect them.
